Insert Flashy Attention Grabbing Headline Here

2006 Bowman Heritage was one of the first sets I bought boxes of when I started collecting again. I think I ended up buying 4 boxes of the stuff and still had to put a shitload of money into picking the rest of the SPs, but I did pull a printing plate in the process. Like most of the new agey stuff companies starting putting into boxes, I looked at the plate and said "I don't get it."

Now I do.

I haven't pulled one since.

In each box you were promised 2 game used cards and an auto. In 2 of the boxes I got the dreaded I.O.U card, a redemption. I waited quite some time before sending them in, however. Actually I was nearing the deadline I believe. I finally sent them in and a few weeks later I got them back. I pull out the first card and it's my prescribed Trevor Crowe (titillating, I know) and then I go for the second card, only this one comes with a note. If you've gotten this before, it's when an exchange card can't be fulfilled and a replacement is sent to you in its place. This was the third time I've had this happen, the first time I got some guy on the Braves who is most likely out of baseball at this point, but the original was no better. The second was from a box of '07 SP Authentic, an Ian Kinsler "By the Letter" auto #/25!!! Iiiiii got back a Carlos Quinten #/75.

Not cool.

Anyways, the letter basically says, "Hi, I know we promised you a card when you first opened the pack but then some shit went down and a case of beer and 3 dead hookers later, we don't got your card. But in its place we have included a card we believe to be of equal value. Gotta go, your sister's callin'. Peace bitch!"

One sentence there is actually quoted. I'll let you decide which that is.

I reach in and grab my replacement card of equal value and the next thing I know I'm staring at this...

Keep in mind, the card I was supposed to receive: John Drennen. REALLY!??! Was Johns' mom working at Topps that day?

The card is sweet. Super shiny, nice auto, it's a rook. I've never really looked into Bowman Sterling and what its deal is. Honestly, once I see $300 for a box, I usually zone out and look at something else.

I've been debating whether or not I want to throw this up on the trade bait page or not. I could be persuaded to trade it for the right offer, but I'm afraid I'm asking too much for it.

Anyways, a big thanks goes out to John Drennens mom for making this "trade". Hopefully we can swap again sometime!

  1. I'm probably wrong, but that picture doesn't look like Ian Kinsler at all. The auto is his, but is that really him? It's a nice card, but I wouldn't have anything to offer for it even if you did put it up there.
