I didn't have any specific year I was looking at. '70 and '71 are gonna be tough due to early cards of Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan, but if I found something to good to pass up, well... yeah. I settled eventually on a 15 card '72 lot that I ended up grabbing for about $12 including shipping.

The 1972 set isn't as obnoxious as I thought it would be. It's loud, don't get me wrong, especially when sandwiched between the black '71s and white '73s, but definitely not as Pacific-y as I thought it was. We knocked off one of the Seavers with the "In Action" card, which I guess could be considered a sub-set.

Most '72s could be had for pretty cheap, which makes for a great vintage project for me right now. Only problem, the set is fucking HUGE! Most Mets flagship sets, not including traded/update, are about 20-25 cards give or take. This one here's got over 40! So with this lot I really barely put a dent in the set. I'll definitely be wanting to pick up another lot before I start picking cards off COMC. Also, if anyone has '72 Mets for trade... I'm all ears.

This is my second favorite 70's baseball set (right behind 75 Topps)... I'm actually in the process of building the A's team set from this year. I'm practically done... I just need the high #'s... which are pretty expensive.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on your set!
