I'm at 50% right now with 70's team sets, so I've been focusing on the rest to try and finish off the decade. The latest set, '73, came courtesy of a $20 BIN that I jumped on. I really like the design for the '73s, with the little dude doing his thang on the corner of the card. I can feel myslef beginning to talk in fragment sentences, so I'll move on to the pictures...

Two very good young pitchers. McGraw, a great reliver famous for his "Ya Gotta Believe" cry in '73, pitched for 19 seasons with the Mets (hooray!!!) and the Phillies (booooo!!!) finishing a 3.14 ERA and 1,109 SO. Matlack won the ROY in '72 and made 3 All-Star teams in his 13 seasons.

1972 was the first season Berra took the helm as the Mets manager after Hodges died of a heat attack in the off season.

Koosman, Seaver. 'Nuff said.

Bizarre. Willie Mays in a non-Giants uniform. No matter how many times I see it, it still just doesn't look right. It'll never look right.
I'm glad I was able to get this on the cheap and all at once. I've got a couple tough sets to try and finish off before I'm done with the 70's. '70 and '71 should prove to be pretty tough projects that may take some time. So whatever I can knock off now, I'll take.

I remember when I got the Mays for my 1973 set. He looks kind of sad in his picture. You know, kind of like 'the end is near.' One of my favorite cards for that very reason. I think it tells a good story.
