2002 Flair Box Toppers

Flair has always made some really nice stuff. You can find boxes from their first run, '93-'96 for the cheap as any box from that time. They reamerged again in 2002 and if you look in the right places, you can get pretty good deals on a box.

Anyway, in '02 they issued a box topper that looked a little something like this:

Pretty nice design. Sharp, clean, not too much wasted space and a nice sized jersey piece. There are 21 subjects in the set, including Ted Williams, and each one is #d to a different print run. The Piazza is actually the most common at 1,000 while most fall between 400-600.

The real fun part about these cards is that they are slightly larger than your typical base card. This is shown next to your run of the mill base:

Only slightly larger. The jersey piece only is about 1/3 the size of the base card in itself! The main obstacle I've encountered so far is storage. Where the hell am I gonna find a case for this!?!?

There's also an autographed version with a bat piece rather than a jersey. The set varies form the regular set, some players are excluded (Piazza) others are included (Ozzie Smith). Check it out, see if your missing anything for your own PC.
