John Maine sucked his usual dick during the game and was a grumpy grizzly bear when he was taken out.
*I try to stay away from "Mets only" posts, to try and keep everyone interested, but I can't help this one. It may get ranty, so I apologize.*
This can't go on for too much longer here. I've never been big on "Projections" at all, but when your stats project out to this for the season:
Perez- 0-14 5.94 ERA 23 HR 126BB
Maine- 4-13 6.13 ERA 35 HR 105 BB
That's pathetic.
I've been rallying since 2008 to get Perez off this team. Not on here of course, but to anyone who was unfortunate enough to listen. The only thing he should be starting is the team bus and the only pitching he should be doing is during batting practice.
Maine, wow. Ummm, it took him untill his 13th pitch of the game to throw a strike. 3 walks to start the game and he then later walked in a run. The most painful thing to have to deal with with Maine is to have to listen to him before each start "Oh, I feel great today. Yeah, last start I didn't, but today I do." Or the now classic "Well I looked at some tape and saw that I was doing this instead of this so I should be good today." It would really be easier if he just said "Oh today? Yeah, no. Not gonna happen." It would be less of a let down, seriously.
These are my favorite numbers however...
Perez 2010: $12,000,000
Maine 2010: $3,300,000
Could you imagine being paid 7 figures to FAIL at your job on a daily basis? I'm a dog trainer in real life, certified and all. Now imagine you just hired me to help train your dog. Your just having some trouble with jumping and basic obedience (sit, down, stay, come). I start working with your fuzzy friend while you go make some lemonade. You come back and notice that while you were gone, your dog ran away. Would you still pay me?
To be serious, this is what I think needs to happen. Perez should be sent to the minors. You can then either make Takahashi the 5th starter and call up a reliever or call up R.A Dickey or Tobi Stoner for the 5th spot.
Maine, I honestly don't even know. Really, I could count the number of good starts he's had one 1 maybe 2 hands, if we're lucky, from 08 to the present. He just doesn't even look like a big league pitcher.
The best way I can think to end this post, is with a tried and true method. A Cartoon Dog...

Don't lose hope Joe!!! I have been screaming to the Rays to lose Pat Burrell for over a year and they finally listened! He is GONE!!! I couldn't be happier. I am just saying, fans should never lose hope cuz some wishes are granted!
ReplyDeleteOK Joe, now that I know that you are a dog trainer, I have some questions for you. Seriously, I have 2 dogs that refuse to learn. Can you email me at salsmanado at gmail dot com? I'd appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteListen Joe, I'm a die hard Mets fan as well. Yes Oliver Perez is sucking the big one right now. John Maine is also nibbling on the suck bottle as well. However in order to kill the plant you have to get to the roots and Omar has to be the first one to go in order to get rid of Carlos B, Oliver, and some of these other money sucking fail of an excuse players because he's the one keeping them there just to meet his diversity quota or so it seems because these guys stink anymore. David Wright had a bad year last year and now look at how things are panning out....things are heading up the positive route for him this year. The other fore mentioned folks just need to go because they have been so inconsistent over the past few years. They have a lot of young talent that could be called up.
