1998 Pacific Mike Piazza "In the Cage"

Before we get started, I'd like to share a little song I wrote about two of the dogs I work with in the kennel.

*throat clear*

Daragan and Winnie
Sittin' in a tree
B-A-R-K-I-N-G
First comes woofin'
Then comes Lickin'
Then comes a litter of puppies that have to be vigorously shaken and dried with a towel while having fluid simultaneously sucked from their noses to help prevent them from suffocating. <3

Thank you. Thank you so very, very much.

I recently went searching the bay for some new Piazzas for the collection and came across a seller with about 7 nice, hard to find inserts, none of which I had. Unfortunately, I didn't have alot of money to throw at them, since this wasn't a planned spending spree, so I put low ball bids on all of them just hoping something would stick.

As the clock wound down, I watched myself get outbid. Card by card fell to the wayside, leaving me with nothing...except a smaller credit card bill. Until finally, the clock wound down and the winning bid was still green!!!

A 1998 Pacific "In the Cage". Seeded 1:145 packs, this was the first time I had seen this card online, in a store or elsewhere. The yellow background is cut to mimic the netting of a batting cage, hence the name of the set. I won it for about $8 shipped , which is a little more than I wanted to pay but since I lost the other 6, it became personal.

So that's my latest pickup. Inching my way ever so closer to 1,000 Piazza cards!

  1. Great looking card. Pacific had some inventive inserts back in the day.
