I was awarded a couple boxes for my birthday last month and I haven't gotten around to posting any of them until now. I'll start off with a bang and do the best of the bunch, a box of 2011 Leaf Pete Rose Legacy!
My LCS has boxes for $82 and each box guarantees an auto and 5 base cards. I know there are Pete Rose collectors out there so I picked it up with the hopes that someone would be interested in trading. Leaf has been coming out with some real interesting stuff lately, and if I had a vote to let someone else enter the licensed world of baseball cards, I'd give it to them.
The base set is 60 cards strong, I believe, and like any other set whose focus is of a single player (think 1959 Fleer Ted Williams) it can be rather uninspiring at times. I'll start off with what base I obtained...
Each card comes in a toploader with a penny sleeve. Nice touch. But now on to the real reason why you would buy a box of this...
"Hit King" Inscription/Relic auto #/10!
Pretty cool. There are all kinds of crazy inscriptions ranging from "Hit King" and "3 Time Gold Glove" to weird "Rose-isms". The relics can be either bat pieces, jersey pieces or patches. I think I did pretty well for myself and I'm glad I picked it up. Now, if anyone wants to trade, these are all up on the market. Leave a comment or shoot me an email, thanks!
