Anyways, I was able to pull of a great trade with Ikes Cards about a month or two ago! He had a bunch of great Mets stuff and if memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does) he still has some left. On to what I did get...
First up is a 2010 Chrome Jenrry Mejia Auto Refractor #/449! I'm still seeing that Mejia is still being ranked as one of the Mets best prospects despite being shelved for the year with Tommy John Surgery. Hopefully he can come back and live up to the potential, but unfortunately for Jenrry, he's a Met which means he's destined to live on the DL for as long as he wears that uniform. *sigh*Next up
A 2006 Ovation Alay Soler SP #/999. I have a bunch of sets that are an SP away from completion. This card brings the Ovation set to that same club. Even so, this card is sweet, it's got all kinds of crazy bumps and canyons and who's not a fan of artificial scarcity?!Thirdly,
2006 Carlos Delgado Turkey Red Bat. I've always liked jersey relics better than the bat cards. Not to say I don't like the bats, but my dad is a carpenter so I grew up with wood scraps all over the place but I've never owned a jersey of my favorite player before. The only thing I don't like is when the card states that I'm holding "game used pants." I can't help but think I got the part by the... well, you know. What kind of relic cards do you prefer, bat or jersey?
Lastly we have a couple Wrights. The Baseball Heroes is #/449 and the Bowman Gold is a double I needed for the team set. I'm about halfway on the 2010 Bowman Gold team set so if anyone has any golden Mets goodness the need to move, let me know!Thanks again for the trade Ike! The pants line made me laugh. I think both types of relics have their place. I never understood pitchers having bat cards, but with sluggers it makes sense and jerseys are kinda cool. They were better in the older Donruss and Fleer sets that showed you what was cut up on the back.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite relics are the oddball types like hats, gloves, shoes or a baseball...or my favorite a real metal rookie cup (all of which I have). For pitchers, I would like to get a piece of pitching rubber. Maybe a piece of chest protector or mask for a catcher or UMPIRE which would be kind of neat.
I know I went WAY beyond your question, but I gotta be me.
haha The oddball ones are pretty sweet. I don't think I actually have anything other than bat or jersey thinking about it. I think something like a fielding glove (not batting glove) would be pretty awesome, or maybe a 10 card checklist made up of all catchers and the relic could be from their mask? Play at the Plate would probably like that!
