Let me start by saying I'm sorry for doing two trade posts so close together. I have plenty of shit to babble about, just not the time. So meanwhile...

I pulled off an extremely strenuous trade recently. Some things were said, shots fired. There were causalities. I am talking of course about my latest swap with The Chronicles of Fuji.

He had a Piazza I didn't have.
I had a Gwynn he didn't have.

Now, he has the Gwynn.
And I have the... Piazza.

2002 SP Authentic GU Jersey
Out of the 400+ Piazza's I have, only 11 of them are of the Game Used variety. I never really looked too much into GU cards because when I got back into collecting, most of them were just mindless photos/designs with a square piece of whatever saying "Look at me, look at me!!!". I like the design of this however, it actually uses all the space on the card and is all like, cool lookin'... and stuff.

I also decided today, to move most of my Piazza and Wright GU cards out of snap cases and into their own binder. I say most, because there are a few that are so thick, they won't fit into the pages. Oh well, any suggestions on how else to store those? Anyways, I took a couple photos of my two favorite GU Piazzas to share with the world.

2002 SPx Dual Jersey w/Roberto Alomar
I got this in a trade as well, but it was so long ago I can't remember who it was from. It may have been before I had the blog, but not sure. Anyways, another slick looking design that works well with the jersey pieces.

Quick question- What team do you think Alomar will wear into the HOF? Now while I'm not saying that he will or should wear a Mets hat, it's just... you know. It'd be nice.

1999 Upper Deck MVP "Fame Used Souvenirs"
This is my favorite GU so far. It's from the first few years Upper Deck started the bat/jersey card frenzy and it's got that good 'ol crazy tripping balls design to it. The bat piece is about twice the size of your run of the mill chip today.

So there you have it, some well designed GU cards from back in the day when design meant something. (yes, I have become a crotchety old prick at the age of 23 and I say things like "back in the day" and "when...meant something") Thanks again to Fuji for the trade! You may now claim your puppy.
