What I learned today:
The website for Dicks Sporting Goods is dickssportinggoods.com. NOT dicks.com. I like to think I made this mistake so others don't have too.
Hello everybody!
I'm back, at least for today anyways.
Not sure if I'll be able to do regular posts again. I'll do when I can but not sure how often that will be right now.
Anyways, today is Mike Piazza's 44th birthday, so I figured I'd show off some of the newer Piazza additions I've made!
1990 Star
First up is a 1990 Star minor league issue from his time with the Vero Beach Dodgers. You may have noticed that is a graded card with a mark of 9.5. What you haven't noticed are the signs of a struggle on the edge of the case. You see, I couldn't give two fucks that the card is graded by a "company" that is supposedly "out of business" so I took a knife to the seam of the case to try and crack it open. The effort was unsuccessful. I think the bandsaw will be getting the call soon.
"Graded" or not, this was a neat little minor league issue pick up for about $10.
1991 Cal League Cards
Another minor league issue, I believe there are only two MiLB Piazzas I don't have now. Unfortunately, one I've never seen for under $25 and the other tends to carry BINs of around $50-$60. Soooo it may be awhile before I get either of those.
I can't remember if these were regional issues of not, I don't think they were, but I was able to pick this one up for around $7.
1999 Revolution "Foul Pole"
A cool card that I've wanted to pick up for awhile now, rather than a game used jersey it's the netting of a foul pole! Beckett says (I apologize for using the "B'' word) that it's actual netting but I dunno. It's a 1:49 pack find and it's something different which Pacific was always good for, mostly for the good yet often for the horrific.
The netting has a cool feel to it, again, different and it was had for about $4!
1998 Paramount "Cooperstown Bound"
The final card of the evening is a 1:361 pickup! I just did one of those "Quick ebay search just for the sake of looking at cards before I turn off the computer for the night" searches and found this card with 0 bids and 30 minutes to go! I caved, naturally, and won it uncontested for a cool $5. Not the prettiest looking card with all the bronze colored foil, but any Piazza card this rare will help mask some of the aesthetical flaws.
So there you have it! It felt good to write on here again and hopefully I can find the time to do it more regularly again. Peace out cub scouts!

Very cool cards. Getting a Piazza minor league card was never even a thought. And by looking at the price, maybe I'll keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteI've gotta pick up that 1990 Star card. Heading over to eBay right now.
