Meet the Mets: Dean Chance Edition

I struggled with a title for this. I originally was thinking "$50 Says You Don't Remember This Guy was a Met" but I thought that was kindda dickish sounding and other than "Meet the Mets", I got nothing.

Anyways, today's subject- Dean Chance.

Chance, the 1964 CYA winner (20-9 1.65ERA 207K) boasts a careers line of 128 wins, 2.92 ERA 33 SHO and 1,534 K. He won 20 games in a season for a 2nd time in '67 (including a no-hitter and a rain shortened 5 inning perfect game) with the Twins and was selected to the All-Star game in both '64 and '67. In his 11 year career he spent most of his time with the Angels, followed by the Twins and then a year each with the Indians and the Motor City Kitties. Sandwiched between the Indians and the Tiggers were the 3 games he spent in a Mets uniform.

3 games

That's it

45 games with the Indians in 1970

3 with the Mets

On September 18th 1970 the Mets bought him from the Indians and in turn he pitched 2 innings in 3 games, giving up 3 runs (13.50 ERA) and posting an 0-1 record with 1 save. Apparently, Topps felt this was enough and forever portrayed him in cardboard immortality as a New York Met and for that, we thank you. (Tosh.O? Anyone???)
